After enduring the chilliest May in memory, it’s time to welcome the sunshine and embrace the Hungarian summer in full bloom! This time, we’re heading to a true gem of Lake Balaton — the stunning Tihany Peninsula — a land shaped by volcanoes, dotted with lavender fields, and steeped in history.

Join us on a scenic hike through nature and time, with breathtaking views, ancient caves, and a splash of summer fun!

🌸 What’s in Store?

• 🧭 Distance: 15 km
(Elevation gain: 180 m – beginner friendly!)

• 💜 Lavender fields: Start the day surrounded by purple blooms and pick your own fragrant bouquet

• 🧘‍♂️ Hermit caves: Explore the abandoned medieval dwellings hidden in the forest

• 🌋 Geological wonders: Walk along extinct volcanoes and discover crater lakes

• 🏞️ Stunning panoramas: Enjoy Lake Balaton from the Őrtorony lookout tower

• ⛪ Tihany Abbey: Wander the charming old town rich in culture and history

09:10 – Meet at Budapest-Déli Railway Station

09:30 – 12:18 – Train ride to Aszófő
12:20 – 14:30 – Hike to lavender fields 🌸
Flower picking time!
14:30 – 15:30 – Explore Tihany Old Town 🏘️
(Optional lunch break)
15:30 – 17:00 – Hike to lookout point & descend to lakeshore ⛰️
17:00 – 19:30 – Sajkod Beach time 🏖️
Watersports, chill, food & drinks
19:30 – 20:00 – Walk back to Aszófő Station
20:48 – 22:46 – Return train to Budapest

☀️ Practical Info

🔥 Since we’ll go in the middle of the summer, it will probably be HOT!
Don’t forget sun cream, hats, and plenty of water!

🥪 Lunch is not included – Bring your own food or sandwiches.
Restaurants are available both in Tihany Old Town and at the Sajkod beach.

💐 The picked flowers are free, but if you want to harvest more, the lavender bags come at a small extra cost.
