Hello Hikers!
We are thrilled to announce our first hike to Lillafüred, the most emblematic Hungarian mountain resort! Nested above the scenic Hámori-tó, the famous palace of Lillafüred is a perfect gateway to the gems of the Eastern Bükk mountains.
On this adventure, we will discover the Szeleta-cave, the Szent István lookout tower, Fehérkő-peak, the majestic medieval castle of Diósgyőr, and the tallest waterfall in Hungary! 🌊
📍 The Route & Landscape
Bükk is the second-highest mountain range in Hungary. Its limestone formations offer a landscape of pointy cliffs, small caves, and sinkholes.
The Path: We start at the Castle of Diósgyőr, climb to the 600m Fehérkő summit, and descend to the Hámori-lake.
Flexibility: You can choose to hike circles around the lake to find hidden viewpoints and caves, or simply head straight to the shore to enjoy the Lillafüred vibes and rent a boat! 🛶
The length of the hike is 16 km, but there are optional exit points at 7 and 10 km where you can shorten your hike and wait for us in the center of Lillafüred. Elevation: 800 meters (400 if you shorten your hike in Lillafüred center).

⏰ Schedule
07:40 – Meeting: Keleti railway station (Main entrance, small stairs under the clock/statues). 🚉
10:30 – Arriving at Miskolc railway station.
11:00 – Arriving at the Castle of Diósgyőr by tram.
Hike-time! 🌲
14:00 – Arriving at Lillafüred (Hiking around the lake or optional relaxation).
17:30 – Returning to Miskolc railway station via the scenic downtown.
18:00 – Exploring Miskolc downtown + optional dinner. 🍴
20:20 – Train from Miskolc to Budapest (Arriving 23:30). Note: Your ticket allows you to return earlier if preferred!
