​Hello Hikers! 👋🥾

​Ready, steady, BALATON! We said goodbye to spring and now we all know that the real summer is finally here! ☀️🌊

To enjoy the full beauty of the blossoming early summer, we invite you to Tihany, the capital of lavender, and the very best of all Balaton beaches, Sajkod! 🪻✨

​Tihany is best known for its thousand-year-old monastery, diverse landscape dotted with tiny lakes, forest bits, volcanic domes, and of course, the famous lavender fields and all the amazing goods made from them. ⛪🌋

​Our 14 km hike will guide us through extinct volcanoes and hidden crater lakes, offering breathtaking views of Lake Balaton along the way. 👀📸

We will stop to soak up the Lavender Festival vibes and pick our own bouquets before heading to Tihany old town for lunch. 🏰🧺

​After the hike, we are visiting the hidden gem of the Tihany peninsula: Sajkod beach! Known for its crystal-clear water and eye-pleasing natural environment, it’s the perfect place to swim, try some watersports, and chill out. 🏖️🏊‍♂️🍹

​📋 Trip Details

​Length of the hike: 14 km 📏 (Please note: we will walk some extra kilometers between locations, so be prepared for a longer day!)

Duration of the trip: Approx. 5 hours ⏱️

Elevation gain: 180 m ⛰️

Difficulty: Doable for everyone with basic stamina. Since we are going in the middle of summer, it will likely be HOT! Please bring sun cream, a hat, and plenty of water! ☀️🧢🧴💧

​09:20 – Meeting at Budapest-Kelenföld Train Station at Pékállomás bakery

09:38 – 12:00 – Train travel to Aszófő 🚂

12:00 – 14:30 – Hike to the lavender field & flower-picking time! 🪻✂️

14:30 – 15:30 – Lunch time in Tihany old town 🍽️

15:30 – 17:00 – Hike to the lookout tower and descending to the lake-shore 🔭⛰️

17:00 – 19:30 – Beach time in Sajkod (watersports, food, drink, and chill) 🏖️🌊

19:30 – 20:00 – Walk back to Aszófő Train Station 🚶‍♂️

20:00 – 22:21 – Returning train to Budapest 🚆🏁

​Access to the lavender fields and lavender picking is completely free! However, it is highly appreciated if you purchase the official harvesting basket of the national park (which you can see on our event banner). 🧺✨

​We will have our sit-down lunch around 15:00, so please bring some snacks or sandwiches to get you through the morning if you have a bigger appetite! 🥪
