Dear Budapest Hikers!
This time we invite you for a hike around the picturesque historical town of Schemnitz in Slovakia (Banska Stiavnica in Slovak, Selmecbánya in Hungarian). Even though the famous medieval mining city is only 2 hours drive away from Budapest, no public transport is available between the two places due to Schemnitz being situated at the top of a mountain range, therefore we are venturing to bridge this gap with our bus trip!
Date: 23th of February (Sunday)
10 500 HUF: Transport + Hike
12 000 HUF: Transport + Hike + FOOD
Optional program: Mining musem (15 EUR)
#Meeting: 7:30 am
7:30AM, Budapest Hősök tere, in front of the ice skate rink
The hiking group will take a two hours to walk in the pine tree wilderness along some charming mountain lakes and descend to one of the mines of the town that brought her the world heritage title in 1993.
After discovering the natural sites we will walk down the cobbled streets of the old town, passing by the university buildings that hosted a great number of renowned scientists, visiting the old castle, and finally tasting some of the local beers and food.
Participation at the event is entirely at your own risk.
Feel free to invite your friends, everyone is welcomed to hike with us!
